Our Alaskan Abode

Woops! forgot to add a couple pics......  MaN  CaVe stuff...
Ive been melting down the ice in the hot tub, and watching the water leak out the bottom.   Tho I think with the tub warming, the cedar will swell enough to stop the leaks  we'll see.  And!! if it actually holds water we'll also see if it stays standing, as the pilings holding it up are rotting away. (Don't worry mom I'll wear my floaties and have  a boogie board handy to ride the wave out)
Yes the cave is located in the cellar, half wood half dirt, very nice!  A cave of caves so to speak.  Got the work bench to the left there, just perfect...  I know!
Old house entry to the driveway, forgot to post earlier, jeep had half an inch clearance into the garage with 12 psi in the tires :)
Entry to the new pace and  bringin the elk to Juneau with it....something you don't see around here.

Just last weekend we moved into this amazing little timberframe cabin "out the road". We're at the dead end of Cohen Drive, which runs along forest and ocean, and we're nestled in the treetops, but only a 10 minute walk away from ocean views. We finally feel like we're "home" here in Juneau living out here. These are just a few pics of outside, and more of inside are soon to come!

We're down this road!
Stone stairs up to cabin.

The wood-burning stove hottub...just waiting to fill with rain water.
Beginning of our morning walk out to the water.
Forest path along morning walk.
The point: our morning destination. Saw two orcas out there!
The Inside of the Cabin!
 Living room/guest bedroom.
 Living room/man chair.
 Pantry-style kitchen...nails are our friend.
 Other half of kitchen.
Stairway to master bed/only room upstairs.
 The rad rock wall.
Bad picture of the cool bathroom.
 Netted staircase.
 Sleeping in the trees...
 The family quilt continues on.
 And back downstairs...
 The "porch".
 More porch, more Fern.
 Our entry way!
Stairs to rock path down to driveway.

  3. The hot tub is already there! It's Alaskan style, guuurrrl! All wood, fills with rainwater and is heated by a "snorkel" woodfire compartment that literally does all the heating. We'll get it going when you're here...oh yeeeeeah.
